Napier is a small city with a seaport in Hawkes Bay on the eastern coast of the North Island.
Napier's self image is a tourist city with a concentration of 1930s Art Deco architecture built after the 1931 Hawkes Bay earthquake.
This theme is accented with classic cars and people with period costumes both in the city and at the cruise ship docks.
Napier is the center of the largest wool centre in the Southern Hemisphere and is the primary export seaport for northeastern New Zealand.
